WEBTOONS THAT MADE GREAT K DRAMA'S!!

WEBTOONS THAT MADE GREAT K DRAMA'S!!

A webtoon is an online comic that is usually viewed on a phone. Normally, webtoons are presented vertically in order to make scrolling through them easier. The original concept of a webtoon was created in South Korea, so there is no surprise that there are many webtoons that have been adapted as live action dramas.

Here are some of the Webtoons that turned to be great K Drama's :-

 True Beauty

True Beauty, by Yaongyi, centers around a girl who in order to escape from being bullied, uses makeup as a way to gain popularity. This romance drama has Moon Ga-Young, Hwang In-Youp, and Cha Eun- Woo has its leads. While the webtoon is currently ongoing, the drama ran from December until February of this year. Currently there is no news of a second season but fans still remain hopeful.

The Uncanny Counter

The Uncanny Counter, originally named The Amazing Rumor by Jang Yi, is about a group of unique individuals that are called the Counters. The Counters fight evil spirits that have possessed humans and attempt to become stronger. The drama stars Jo Byung-Gyo, Kim Sejeong, Yoo Jun-Sang, And Yeom Hye-Ran. The Uncanny Counter aired from November 2020- January 2021 and was released internationally by Netflix. The drama was received and to the delight of its viewers, has been renewed for season 2.

Sweet Home

With no clear reason or warning, people start turning into rather grotesque monsters. Sweet Home follows a handful of survivors with various backgrounds, that try to make it through the apocalypse. The webtoon, with the same name was created by Kim Carnby And Hwang Young-Chan. The drama, featured stars such as Cha Hyun-Soo, Han Du-Sik, and Seo-Yi Kyeong. As someone who has both read the webtoon, I enjoyed the drama even though there were quite a few differences between them. However, those differences really made the story feel new and unique.

Hellbound

While there are a large amount of dramas that are based off webtoons in the works, Hellbound happens to be the one that I am the most excited about. Based on the webtoon by Yeon Sang-Ho and Choi Kyu-Suk, its about people suddenly receiving messages on when they will die. If the name Yeon Sang-Ho sounds familiar to you, its because he is the director belong Train to Busan and Peninsula. He will also be the director and writer for the drama.

What is your favorite webtoon turned kdrama? Or is there a webtoon that you want to see turned into a live action?
