Tower of God: from Webtoon to Anime

Tower of God: from Webtoon to Anime

Reach the top, and everything will be yours. At the top of the tower exists everything in this world, and all of it can be yours. You can become a god.

It's originally a popular Korean webtoon by SIU and still is on Naver's Webtoon platform. Being so popular with its high-quality stories and breathtaking drawings, it's been released as a mobile game, merchandise and finally an anime version!

SeoulBox prepared a guidebook of Tower of God for you!

1. Plot

Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him entertained. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open the door. He is faced with tests that he takes in order to see Rachel again. Basically it's following the webtoon's story line, although minor details can be changed.

2. Music

Stray Kids and its members featuring BGMs. They've released both Korean and Japanese versions.

3. Format

It's divided by seasons. Season 1 has been released in 2020. There are 13 episodes per season.

4. Popularity

It ranked second in MyAnimeList and has been consistently ranked within the top 10 since then. It is eighth as of June 14.# The rating is 8.02 points. Unless it's an overwhelming work of the quarter, it doesn't mean much because the rankings fluctuate a lot and even the users who use the site say not to believe the rating.

5. Reactions So Far

There are many criticisms about the adaptations of the original work. In terms of adaptation, some say that the complex and disorganized setting and development of the original work are being neatly arranged according to the 13th episode of 1 School. Sometimes, however, it becomes more difficult to understand and even reverses the character by omitting the content too much or adding the original content suddenly.
Even the adaptations create contradictions within the plot. Above all, most of the famous lines and scenes that are well-received in the original work have been deleted or adapted in a bland manner, so the original fans are very dissatisfied. Although some people who are not fans of the original movie think it's okay, many say that the story goes smoothly without any impact.
