The Dating Diaries Korea: Meeting an Artist!

The Dating Diaries Korea: Meeting an Artist!

DATING DIARIES KOREA

When I meet new people, my goal is not to get a relationship from it but to get to know someone new and see what happens. I know this last statement gives place to many interpretations, but trust me, getting to know a good person is so complex that sometimes you want to maintain a healthy friendship rather than try something more!

This time, the story already started randomly. I was walking down Hongdae street when I heard someone saying something close to me in Korean. I ignored it until I noticed someone close to me.

With a very shocked expression, I asked if he needed something, and he then explained to me he wanted to know me a bit more because, previously, he saw me in a bookstore sneaking into art books. We exchange Kakao’s IDs, and we start talking for a few days.

It was the day after Halloween when he invited me to go to an artist friend's exhibition. Honestly, I'm too weak to say no to anything related to art, so I said yes right away.

We met at the station, and before going for a 1-hour metro ride, we stopped to buy some beagles as a present for her artist friend. I was a bit surprised he "needed" to buy something for his friend, but he explained its etiquette and manner to bring something to someone on a big occasion.

After the journey, we made it to Seoul Forest, where we went straight to the exhibition. It was amazing! A lot of photographs and modern art - let me say, there I had one of the best experiences of my life. I saw an Andy Warhol painting at the end of the exhibition where the artist's friend was.

There, my new friend left me alone with her to talk and get to know each other. Again, one of my best experiences! She was so curious about me as a person that I could barely ask anything about her art!

We left the exhibition and went to a photography shop and dinner, and that was the end of a fantastic friendship date.

From what I explained that boy sounds like an amazing person to date, right? He took me to art places; we went for a day walk, and invited me to dinner (even if I wanted to split the cost)… Today, we keep in touch and sometimes meet for coffee and food, but he's 45!

I firmly believe that love doesn't know about age, but in this case, it wasn't working for me at all! I didn't find a lover, but a great friend!
