Samyang began creating a hot chicken sauce influenced by Jjimdak, a spicy Korean chicken dish. Hot Chicken Noodles emerged after a year of research that consumed 2 tons of sauce, 1,200 chickens and loads of various chilies worldwide. The pilot version faced immense protests ("Do you think this will ever be eaten by people?"). The company noted, however, that the noodles are sold at high prices on the second-hand market! The company published the legend in 2012, believing in the potential of early adapters.
