Police will be investigating allegations that KBS’ “Music Bank” show rigged the scores leading to LE SERRAFIM’s win.

In the May 13th episode, the rookie group’s debut song “FEARLESS” was up against Lim Young Woong’s “If We Ever Meet Again” for first place. During the calculations, Lim was given a broadcast score of 0 points.

“Music Bank” initially claimed that “If We Ever Meet Again” hadn’t been played on KBS radio stations or featured in any content during May 2-8. However, Dispatch reported that the song had actually been played three times by KBS.

The points for the show’s rankings come from five categories: Digital Music Chart (60%), Number of Broadcasts (20%), Viewer’s Choice (10%), Album Sales (5%), and Social Media (5%).

“If We Ever Meet Again” was No. 1 on the Gaon Digital Chart during May 1-7. Lim’s album “Im Hero,” released May 2nd, sold over 1.1 million copies in its first week. It was the largest sale recorded by a soloist.

On May 29th, Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo Police Station announced they would be taking on the case. They stated:
“As the allegations have not yet been confirmed, we currently plan to investigate by speaking to the complainants and more. If the allegations of manipulation are found to be true, we will switch to a full-scale investigation.”

The rigging allegation is the latest controversy to hit LE SSERAFIM. In April, bullying allegations emerged surrounding Kim Garam, the group’s center. Despite this, the members debuted together under HYBE on May 2nd with their mini album “FEARLESS.”
