Hi Seoulmates!
With the vibrant world of K-pop growing so fast, we understand how important it is to know who the new K-pop rookies are and the exciting music they are producing!
2019 has been a year full of talented tracks and stunning music videos. We have been truly blessed with the abundance of gifted artists emerging from Korea. With this in mind, we are delighted to present a special gift for you.
We recently asked our exclusive Seoulmates what question they would like to know about an upcoming K-pop rookie and we are here to present an exclusive interview with BROOKYLN; an inspiring artist.
BROOKLYN started his K-pop adventure in 2017 with a collaboration with his good friend Ki Hyun Lee, a Korean Hip Hop artist, releasing the song “Nothing I Won’t Do”. After touring a few countries, he has decided to change the K-pop game by releasing his debut track entirely in English: the first ever K-pop artist to do this.
His debut song, “Young Love” was released on 9th August. It is a must watch for anyone interested in great music and stunning visuals. Check it out below!
Here are his responses to your questions. We are excited to see his music career unfold! Keep a watch for him. Let us know what you think of his video and his answers.
What’s your favorite Korean Snack?
My favorite snack is butter waffle cookies which you can only get in Seoul, and I always eat Shin Ramyun noodles as a midnight meal.
What’s your favorite food to eat in your free time?
I don't have much free time, but my favorite food is lobster with melted garlic butter.
What motivated you to become an idol?
Because I have been singing and performing since I was a child, I learned that the most important thing for me to do in life is to make people's day brighter. I can do that today with my music.
Was it difficult picking the company you wanted to work with?
No. I am lucky because my company often believes in me more than I believe in myself.
Do you worry about how you are going to make it? How do you stay motivated?
I do not worry about anything other than filling my fans with positive emotions. What motivates me every day is when my fans tell me that they connected with my song in a meaningful way.
How do you like to spend your days off?
There is never really a day off, but I love what I do, so that's okay. I like responding to my fans whenever I can.
Which country do you want to visit the most?
I want to visit the U.K., of course! The U.A.E. is also high up on my list.
What song truly touches your heart and gives you goosebumps?
There are lots of songs I like, but I get goosebumps when an artist performs it emotionally live. That being said, because my mother loves Céline Dion, I too am a sucker for huge power ballads. When Céline performs My Heart Will Go On, the whole arena goes quiet and everyone is bawling. She's a total rockstar.
Which music artist has given you the greatest inspiration?
I think overall, Michael Jackson has given me the greatest inspiration because of his intense work ethic, vision, and determination to entertain. He's influenced me, and a lot of the artists I enjoy today.
What’s a secret skill you have that no one else knows about?
I am great at drawing. I used to draw great portraits of people.
