BROKER AND DECISION TO LEAVE AT CANNES

There were prizes in store for South Koreans at the 75th Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28).
Hirokazu Kore-eda’s 'Broker' and Park Chan-wook’s 'Decision to Leave' were both nominated for the prestigious Palme d’Or.

While neither film won, Broker actor Song Kang-ho made history. He became the first South Korean to win the Best Actor Award.

Broker won the Ecumenical Jury Award (for faith-based films), while Chan-wook won the award for Best Director. Broker also received a 12-minute standing ovation, the longest for a South Korean film since Chan-wook’s Thirst in 2009.

Broker will be released in South Korean theaters on June 8th, while Decision to Leave will be released June 29th.
