A Jolly Good Korean Cereal

Jollypong is a snack food made from puffed wheat dipped in caramel syrup. Yummy by itself, it doubles as cereal for breakfast. Yoon Youngdal, a snack entrepreneur, visited the States in the 1970s when Korea was still in poverty and experienced a cultural shock that Americans had cereals as breakfast. He spent days and nights studying the golden recipe for it, motivated to make its Korean version so that children could get enough nutrition. The secret to popping whole wheat kernels and coating them with sugar glaze was found: Jollypong
